Winter Wildlands Alliance presents the finest in backcountry filmmaking.
What: The Backcountry Film Festival features work from both grassroots and professional filmmakers that showcases the beautiful mysticism of winter backcountry.

This year’s spectacular cinematic line-up showcases nine different films, including: Sweetgrass Productions’ “Solitaire,” voted Best of Festival; producer Chris Dicky and Purple Orange LLC’s “Chalk and Ski,” winner of the Best Short Award; and Powderwhore Productions’ “Breaking Trail,” winner of the Best of Backcountry Award.
Who: Established in 2005, the festival highlights the efforts of Winter Wildlands Alliance (WWA) to preserve and maintain our country’s winter backcountry landscape.
Established in 2000, this Boise-based non-profit organization benefits both snow sport enthusiasts and wildland conservationists. The group advocates for sizable areas of public land, on which the public can experience the sights, sounds and natural wonder of winter backcountry habitats without intrusive motorized vehicles or urban development.
Locally, the festival is co-sponsored by the Foothills Branch of the Mountaineers Backcountry Ski Committee and the Seattle Branch of the Mountaineers Backcountry Ski and Snowboard Committee.
Where: The Mountaineers Program Center.
When: Friday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. Doors open approximately one hour earlier.
