Wine O’clock Wednesday: Bartholomew Winery in the Old Brewery Building

You drive by the Old Rainier Brewery complex on I-5 South all the time, and chances are you even toured the landmark building at some point. You know the “T” replaced the “R” on the roof when Tully’s Coffee moved into the former brewery headquarters. But did you know the brightly painted building is also home to Bartholomew Winery?

This urban winery, which specializes in Rhone and Bordeaux blends, is launching three new wines on Feb. 25: 2007 Railway Red, with an unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Malbec ($22); 2008 Viognier ($14) and 2008 Muscat ($10).

The release party is from 5-9 p.m. and free for everyone to attend. That’s not all — to make room for these new releases, Bart’s 2008 Sauvignon Blanc has been reduced to $10 a bottle or $99 a case. Now’s a great time to sip some good wine and enjoy a bit of Seattle history!
