Five local food favorites team up for a monthly contest with a tasty reward.

In the restaurant world – where territory is as important as food – competition can be a funny thing. So, the idea of five eateries joining forces seems quite odd, and yet so refreshing. That is precisely what a quintet of downtown eateries have done, in the name of fun and games.

Pike Brewing Company, Japonessa, TASTE Restaurant, Boka Kitchen + Bar and Fonte Cafe & Wine Bar are collaborating for Find it On First, a scavenger hunt of sorts, which takes place on the first Tuesday of each month through July. Participants arrive at each restaurant, where they must complete some sort of challenge, such as answering a trivia question or locating a hidden treasure. To the victor goes a stamp on his/her Find it on First card from that particular establishment. Once all five insignia have been collected, the contestant is eligible for the monthly deal.

For May, participants with completed stamp cards will receive a complimentary dessert with any entrée purchased after 6 pm. This month’s Find it on First will take place Tuesday, May 3, and scavengers have all day to visit the five locations. If this Tuesday isn’t good for you, check back later this summer. Successful June players will receive a $1 Bloody Mary cocktail anytime before 1 p.m., and July’s prize is a complimentary appetizer with any entree before 6 p.m.

In addition, all Find it on First participants may enter a monthly drawing for a grand prize, which is announced at the end of every month. Past jackpots have included dining certificates, hotel stays, spa visits and other prizes from local establishments.

Find it on First stamp cards may be downloaded on-line, or picked up at the Market Information Center, which is located on 1st Avenue and Pike Street and open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
