Head to the Harbor Steps for meat and comfort food at its finest.

I love spaetzle (spetz-lah) to a degree of concern. I was first introduced to the cheesy, playful dish while visiting my uncle and Austrian aunt in Alaska.
With amazement, I watched as the egg noodle dripped lazily from the special grader into a pot of water to be hardened, and moments later was shoving spoonfuls of the artisan “mac and cheese” dutifully into my belly. It had been a long ski day.
Must-Have Grub: Since, I’ve always been on the lookout for my Aunt’s dish, and so far Lecosho is producing the best product.
Best of all, a proportional bowl is stuck dead in the middle of the West Edge eatery’s happy hour menu for a mere $5, sandwiched between other rich delights like espresso rubbed short ribs ($9, is there anything more Seattle than coffee meat?) and two other, “oh, man” beef offerings like the Painted Hills shoulder tender steak ($14) or the Painted Hills 1/2 pound burger bursting with Beechers’ flagship cheddar and bacon. Those, I would save for a night when not entertaining a young lady.
Must-Have Libations: With food offerings as such, no on can blame them for keeping the drink specials simple.
A house glass of wine will keep you at $5, and a rotating three tap rotation leaves me in hopeful anticipation of local favorites. One surprise that is known however, is the presence of the Anchor Steam amber ($4) out of San Francisco – a creamy, malty amber offering. Place that next to some Painted Hills beef, and you’re going to be happy in ways previously unknown.
