Two-thousand individuals walked 60 miles over the past weekend in the 2011 Susan G. Komen Seattle 3-Day for the Cure®. Together, these women and men raised more than $5.3 million for breast cancer research and community-based breast health and education programs—efforts they hope will end breast cancer forever and provide everyone with the lifetime they deserve.

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure is a life-changing experience that commenced months ago when participants began their training and fundraising efforts in their local communities. After embarking on their journey Friday, participants spent the weekend walking 60 miles through Washington communities and camped two nights at Marymoor Park. These women and men concluded their three-day journey with a powerful Closing Ceremony at Memorial Stadium at the Seattle Center.

Since its inception, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure has raised nearly $600 million for innovative global breast cancer research and local community programs supporting education, screening and treatment. In fiscal year 2010, Komen made grants to more than 1,900 community organizations totaling more than $93 million.
