Michael Jackson’s Sensational Return To Seattle

The pop icon’s legacy, presented by Cirque Du Soleil in an eye-popping live show.

King of Pop fans, take note: Cirque du Soleil presents “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour,” a fantastic celebration of the late artist’s life and legacy. This $60 million extravaganza is scheduled to visit more than 50 North American cities before heading overseas next summer. On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Seattle becomes the tour’s first U.S. stop.

The show combines visual art, music and dance to recreate Jackson’s vivid persona, and will entertain not only his lifelong fans but those who are just discovering his creative genius. “Immortal,” which covers many aspects of the artist’s tumultuous life, is the first live project authorized by the Jackson estate since his death in 2009.

The 120-minute show takes place in a fantastical realm, where Jackson’s Inspirational Giving Tree — the source of his creativity — is presented to the audience. This is inspired by a real-life oak tree in the Neverland Ranch, where the artist wrote many of his songs. What follows is the signature mix of fairy tale imagery and stylish choreography that has distinguished Cirque du Soleil — one of the most successful live shows in history.

Jamie King, the show’s writer and director, has a lengthy résumé. King, 39, is best known for directing and choreographing Britney Spears’ 2009 “Circus Tour.” In the past decade, he also directed tours for Madonna, Christina Aguilera, The Spice Girls, Ricky Martin and Avril Lavigne. The man knows pop music — and now, he tells the story of  the genre’s most iconic figure.

Jackson’s global messages of love, peace and unity are highlighted by the unforgettable performances in “Immortal,” a show that effectively captures the King of Pop’s essence and serves as inspiration for all the fans this great artist left behind. The show will be presented at Key Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10 (8 p.m. both nights). Tickets ($99304) to both performances are available online.
