A stalwart of the Capital Hill scene, Coastal Kitchen now boasts one of the best oyster bars in town featuring an impressively varied range of options such as the Naked Roy from Totten Inlet to the Shigoku of Bay Center. The best part? Daily from 10p-Midnight, these oysters can be caught for the bargain price of $1.25 each.

Must Have Eats: When at the raw bar, you’re best to stay raw. The selection of oysters offer something for everyone, with flavors ranging widely from creamy and buttery to tangy, subtle, salty, and more. Prices vary but you’re looking at about $3 per or $15 per half dozen. The Tuna Carpaccio ($12.95) is exceptional; thinly sliced ahi that is then drizzled with Sicilian extra virgin olive oil and finished with a herb salad tossed in a lemon vinaigrette. Simple, yet delivering complex flavors, this is a must try. Don’t bother with the fried calamari, which while perfectly adequate at $9.25 definitely isn’t up to the standard of some of the other dishes on the menu.

Must Have Drinks: The Happy Hour drink menu features the classics. $4 wine & drafts, $5 well drinks, and $6 martinis & manhattans. The wines rotate, but are generally more mild making them a suitable if not altogether memorable pairing with a broad selection of food items. The martini is technically very accurate and clean in flavor in presentation.
Happy Times: 3pm to 6pm daily | Oyster Happy Hour 10pm to midnight daily (includes drink specials)
