What’s Hot: a Canvas. a Cause. celebrates creativity for the community

For the past several months artists across various disciplines have been preparing for a showcase that will bring art, dance, music, and poetry together. It’s a collaborative performance event, dance party and fundraiser benefiting Urban ArtWorks, which empowers local youth through the creation of public art.

The night’s live performances of music, dance, and spoken word were inspired by Urban ArtWorks mural panels painted by Urban ArtWorks artists, finished prior to the event. When it all comes together on the night of the 27th, the community will witness the talent and work of Urban ArtWorks, and celebrate the positive impact that creative expression can have on communities.

Following the performances, the original paintings will be raffled off to support Urban ArtWorks, along with other pieces of art donated by local artists.

By day MarkerHaus is a collective of design thinkers and makers. The 10,000 square feet building  houses design and fabrication services. For this month’s event it will be outfitted with a bar for the event. A food truck will be parked outside, too.

Guests will enjoy performances by singer-songwriters Susy Sun and Zach Fleury; poet  Laura Wright; author Matt Gano; singer Katie Clum; dancer Roxanne Foster; and breakdancer Chris Nauta.

Other talent includes hip hop artist Mike Davis, who helped launch Project Elevate, and Andrea Larreta, who fuses dance with sign language.

And once we’ve all gotten to know each other, at 10:00 PM, the event will transform into a dance party, with DJ DV One!

$55 VIP/ $25 presale/ $30 at the door.
