Toys + Tech: Sosh – The Personal Concierge App

Sosh, where no one knows your name and it’s awesome!

Sosh has one humble goal: to change the world. They want to help you break out of your routine so you can experience all the exciting, interesting things in your city. Things that you might be too lazy or intimidated or busy to check out on your own. And by getting enough people to do this enough times, the world of entertainment will change as we know it—we will start to see more successful independent, local, unique activities and less box-office-record-breaking 5th sequels of terrible movies.

Here’s how it works. Sosh has a team of experts and well-known locals finding the most interesting things to do in the city. These are catalogued in the Sosh app, and when you use it, you will be given personalized recommendations based on your interests, habits, and a host of other factors, including the time of day, day of the week, and the weather outside.

But the best part? Sosh doesn’t just tell you what’s out there, it tells you exactly what you need to know to get out there. It takes the guessing out of trying something new. Because as much as we like to tell ourselves that we are adventurous, thrill-seeking surprise lover, surprises are not what we’re looking for 99% of the time (see: online menu). Say, for example, one of your recommendations is a bike ride just outside of the city. Sosh will hand you all the information you need to prepare for your trip. Things that will help you pack, plan, eat and not get caught on an advanced, single-track trail with a 2-year-old and half a granola bar. It’s like that friend you have who’s super tapped in and always telling you all about the amazing new places they go, but without the pretentiousness. And the belittling. And the self-loathing.

Remember that episode of Sex and the City when Cynthia was ridiculed and laughed at by the Chinese delivery girl for ordering the same thing every night for months? You don’t want to be that person. Get Sosh.
