Dogs allowed at this Canadian sports bar.
In this edition of Dog Days, we feature the The Angry Beaver, a quirky Canadian-themed bar in Greenwood where all dogs are welcome. The Angry Beaver is dog-friendly and offers viewing for every hockey game that is broadcast on multiple TVs and a projector. Staying true to its roots, the bar is decorated with hockey jerseys and a mural on the wall with the words to the Canadian national anthem, “O, Canada,” as well as offering Canadian food and drinks.
DOG DAYS GRADE: A
Plenty of room to move around for dogs and people!
Hungry? Try the Poutine, hot french fries smothered in your choice of beef, curry, turkey, or mushroom gravy and Beecher’s cheese curds. They offer typical bar food (burgers, sandwiches, fries) as well as salads and fish & chips. If you are craving dessert, they offer the Beaver Tail, which is a deep fried pancake shaped like a beaver tail and topped with maple syrup, cinnamon, powdered sugar and vanilla ice cream! The Nainaimo Bars are a Canadian specialty and are mouth-watering and delicious too.
Looking to grab a drink? There are 12 rotating taps, including Canadian beers and small selection of wine. If you’d rather have a cocktail, they offer a full service bar as well. During hockey playoffs, they have drink specials with themes around each team that wins their playoff game. When a team scores a goal, the bartender runs around with a red light and everyone cheers!
At the Angry Beaver you can grab a drink, eat Canadian food, watch hockey and spend time with friends and pooch at the same time. Trivia night is on Wednesdays at 8:00pm, it’s free to participate and there is live music on the weekends. It is an experience not to be missed!
