Dr. Nooshin K. Darvish and her team opened Washington state’s first walk-in IV clinic Holistique IV Lounge in April in downtown Bellevue.

Seattleite: What would you tell those who may be intimidated by the idea of a nutritional IV?

Dr. Darvish: Don’t be nervous—the interesting fact about taking vitamins and minerals intravenously nutritional IV (intravenous) or IM (intramuscular) is that by bypassing your digestive tract, your body completely absorbs the nutrition through the blood stream. None of the nutrients are lost during the absorption process or through your urine. This type of nutritional IV absorption has been commonly known to potentially lead to ‘better results’. With oral supplements and food, you only get about 20% absorption after filtering through your digestive system, much less than a nutritional IV.

Seattleite: How often can patients receive IVs?

Dr. Nooshin Darvish: If they choose to do so—our guests can safely receive IV’s in the lounge on a weekly basis.

Seattleite: Is there a specific demographic you’re targeting?

Dr. Darvish: Yes, our target audience is healthy individuals of all ages looking to ‘fill in the gap’ of what they are missing in their daily supplements and foods with IV nutrition. We envisioned a community of people coming in, bringing friends and family and enjoying a beautiful relaxing space where they can get vitamins, nutrients and amino acids. We want to ‘restore’ our community with health and wellness, so that in turn, our community will support each other.

Seattleite: Are there any specific contraindications that would prevent someone from receiving a nutritional IV?

Dr. Darvish: Our clients complete a medical intake form before very visit and one of our doctors does an initial assessment on every client. The doctors have criterion that they review and, if a guest falls outside of that criterion, we would suggest that they see us at our sister clinic—Holistique Naturopathic Medical Center—for further lab testing.

Seattleite: Can you tell me more about the loyalty program for individuals and families?

Dr. Darvish: Our IV Lounge Loyalty program was developed with repeat guests in mind. They will save 10% annually on all of their IV’s, IM’s as well as any other services we may offer in the Lounge such as Acupuncture, Reflexology and Oxygen Therapy. We offer this program for single clients and their immediate family members.

Seattleite: Where do the IV bags come from? 

Dr. Darvish: We have certified medical staff who make all of the guests’ IV bags. We ensure that all of our vendors are all verified compounding pharmacies in the United States. They send us all of the raw materials such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids and we in turn take this raw material and make the custom nutrient bags twice a day.

We are very transparent which is why you can actually watch our medical team compound in our sterile room through large glass windows. Our guests are assured of what is going into their bodies!

Seattleite: Who administers the IVs? 

Dr. Darvish: Our licensed physicians administer the IVs.

Seattleite: Is there anything else you would like to highlight?

Dr. Darvish: Our foundation is in medicine and medical services. We have been administering IV’s for over 14 years and in that time we have administered well over 50,000 IVs.
