“It is a grave error to assume that ice cream consumption requires hot weather” —Anne Fadiman
Seattleites know that you don’t have to wait for the warm weather (summer, why are you so far away?) when the ice cream cravings strike. This city loves its ice cream with a passion. We love experimental flavors like strawberry with honey balsamic and black pepper as more classic flavors like melted chocolate. Just please, bring on the ice cream!
With its quirky decor, antique collectibles and outrageous food, Serendipity 3 has become a New York institution. Their rather VIP clientele include the likes of legends like Andy Warhol, Cher, and Marilyn Monroe. Psst, amongst modern-day legends, Beyonce and Selena Gomez are supposed to be huge patrons too! Serendipity 3 captures the charm of what New York City used to be like way back in the 1950s. It is like a restaurant ‘frrrozen’ in time! A visit here is like careening down the rabbit hole to find yourself in a mad hatter’s tea party!

Ice creams aficionados have reason to rejoice—the good news is that Serendipity 3 has partnered with Serendipity Brands to bring pints of their iconic dessert-based ice cream to your freezer! The even better news is that these luxurious ice creams are priced at just $5.99 a pint. Now you can have your own ice cream party whenever you want! With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, the timing is indeed, serendipitous (pun intended!).
We tried some of the flavors and here is what we think.

Frrrozen Hot Chocolate
This is the restaurant’s signature and most over-the-top dessert. Think hot chocolate flavored ice cream with whipped cream swirl and chocolate shavings. Legend has it Jacqueline Kennedy once asked Stephen Bruce, the founder for his famous iced chocolate recipe for a dinner party once, but he declined! However, he offered to make it himself for her guests. Now you can enjoy that very deliciousness in a pint of their Frrrozen Hot Chocolate.
Humble Pie
What can be better than a peanut butter-based dessert? Peanut butter and chocolate!!! Serendipity 3 first opened with cake, pie, and coffee. A slice of pie was just 75¢. So while the prices have increased, the honest-to-goodness taste remains the same. To taste it yourself, get a pint of their peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter swirls, chocolate chunks, and graham pieces. It has that delicious smooth peanut butter taste with lots of texture.
Outrageous Banana Split
Just as the name suggests, this flavor can be best described as outrageous. With banana-flavored ice cream with fudge swirls, walnuts, and strawberries; this one is best enjoyed after a hearty burger, preferably on a lazy Sunday. Prepare to take a long snooze afterward, with yummy ice cream dreams.
Strawberry Fields Sundae
As a big fan of berry-based ice cream, this one is my favorite. This decadent ice cream reminds of languorous summer picnics. This strawberry ice cream has bits of delicious strawberries and cheesecake pieces in it. The strawberries pieces add a fruity contrast to the umami, cheesecake flavor.
Other flavors include Vanilla Vogue, Birthday Cake, Café Espresso Chip, Forbidden Broadway Sundae, and Humble Pie. For a pint of condensed happiness, just pop by a nearby grocery store. Serendipity Ice Cream pints are now available in Western state retailers such as participating 7-11’s, Walgreens and CVS near you!
