With Seattle being such a dog-friendly city — plus canine-welcoming venues like the Kimpton and Staypineapple hotels, among many others, luring in visitors too — we thought it might be helpful to share some recent gear findings that have been making us (and our furry friends) especially happy. Locals will want to also check out the recent addition of Urban Animal, a local venue aiming to redefine pet care, as well as regional favorites like the Dog Yard Bar and The Seattle Barkery‘s several outposts offering freshly-baked sweet treats.

Traveling with your pup has never been easier thanks to DIGGS sturdy and sleek dogs crates (see here) and Eventur travel kennels (see here), their ultra-durable yet lightweight inflatable options designed for safe car travel anywhere you may want to go. The Eventur is quick to inflate and deflate plus compatible with most vehicles. The best news? The transportable crates keep your pet safe while providing cushy comfort too. (While the luxury price point can be a bit hefty for some models, you can often find discounts offered on the DIGGS website.)
We’re huge fans of BarkBox‘s subscription service that brings joy and whimsy to essentials like cozy beds and hands-free leashes or creative toys, tasty treats and mini-cameras to keep an eye on things while you’re out and about. For a good laugh, check out seasonal additions like the brand’s new Mean Girls collection.

For dogs that tug on walks, or who need a double connection training leash, we’d recommend the (stylish!) offerings of North Carolina-based 2 Hounds Design. Their Freedom No-Pull Harness comes in Swiss velvet lining that prevents rubbing and chafing, and four adjustment points make the harnesses easily adjustable to your dog’s specific build. (A $12.99 chewing warranty might be a good idea for certain chompy breeds!)

Locally speaking, Ruffwear, based out of Bend, sells ideal gear for PNW adventurers. While the Front Range Harness (sold in several vibrant colors) is a popular choice for everyday walks and occasional trail hikes, the Roamer Bungee Dog Leash can be held in hand or worn around the waist for a comfortable hands-free adventure. Other products range from life vests and dog boots that prove both practical and adorable for upcoming explorations.
Find colorful and eco-friendly essentials from Approved by Fritz—like the New York-based company’s chic and sustainable dog bed ($149) that’s made from 100% recycled bottles, and features a machine washable water-resistant, scratch-proof, durable cover. Smaller products range from the checkered harness ($42), available in sizes from small to extra large, and their easily-adjustable, best-selling liberty-green collar ($28.50).

When it comes to pampering our four-legged friends, we’re open to the possibilities. For example, we were lucky to try some products by Maev, whose supplement bars are made with real, whole ingredients, including peanut butter, chia seeds, shredded coconut and coconut oil. (First-timers get 15% off their online order.) While certain formulas focus on “Hip & Joint” and “Weight & Digestion,” we tried the “Anxiety & Calming” and “Skin & Coat” bars, which seemed to be a quickly-consumed hit.
Said to be “formulated alongside Ph.D. veterinary nutritionists,” the company also sells human-grade raw food like their protein-rich Puppy Formula (starting at $71 for five pounds) that targets seven essential health benefits and intends to support a puppy’s growth and development.
