WHERE: emmer&rye | 1825 Queen Anne Ave. N. | (206) 282-0680
WHAT: Pork Belly with Kabocha Squash and Arugula-Pumpkin Seed Pesto
CRAVE FACTOR: We may be in the Year of the Rabbit but if you’ve been paying attention, we at Seattleite have been writing a little bit about pig these days. From Cochon555 to house-made Pork Sausage with Piperade and sometimes you just have us at bac…, we appreciate Babe.
The Pork Belly with Kabocha Squash and Arugula-Pumpkin Seed Pesto at emmer&rye is, in one word, succulent. The pork is moist and when combined with the squash, arugula and pesto your taste buds will have a whole new pig experience. And if you’re a wine drinker like I am, I suggest pairing this dish with a glass of their Montinore Pinot Noir.
Located in the heart of the Upper Queen Anne neighborhood, emmer&rye focuses on “locally derived, seasonally inspired” dishes. Having dinner at this old Victorian house turned restaurant made me feel as if I was a house-guest rather than a patron. Wood tables and chairs are situated in several rooms giving it a homey feel. Be sure to make a reservation as the restaurant fills quickly, especially on weekends.
