Hundreds upon hundreds of Seattleites got their “geek on” at the GeekWire launch party extravaganza. Cool geeks and fanatical geeks all came out to celebrate the launch of the hottest tech news site. GeekWire founders John Cook and Todd Bishop welcomed the movers and shakers in the Seattle tech community, as well as all members of the “geekosystem.”
Even celebrities like Pat Noonan and Brad Evans of the Seattle Sounders, and Sonics hometown hero Detlef Schrempf joined in on the festivities. Not to mention, Seattle’s most bodacious rapper, Sir Mix-A-Lot, rubbed shoulders with the geekiest of the geeks.
It was a night to remember as the energy was fueled by Golazo drinks and iPad, Xbox, and Wii giveaways. Guests played in heated “GeekBall” battles, where a game of billiards collided with soccer on an oversized pool table — no cleats were required — just good spirits.
Other activities filled the venue, like putt putt golf hosted by Big Fish Games, hockey shoot out, beer pong and free-throw contests against Detlef Schrempf, hosted by Decide, Madrona and Maveron. It was the geekiest bash of the century!
