Get inked, touched up or just browse at Seattle’s 10th annual expo.
As August greets us with some toasty days (by our standards), get ready to hang up those fleece coats and prepare to show some skin for Seattle’s 10th annual Tattoo Expo.
This weekend, some of the most talented tattoo artists in the world — traveling from as far away as Argentina and Norway — will be on hand to ink you to your heart’s desire. The vendor village will also be present to fulfill all your tattoo-related needs.
According to its website, “The Seattle Tattoo Expo was formed with the primary goal of exposing new talent, showcasing existing fan favorites and providing enthusiasts with gathering place to share their love for this enduring art form.”
If you don’t plan on getting tatted up this weekend, there are many other things to do, such as browse the concessions, sip a cold one in the beer garden or relax as you discuss ink in a cigar lounge called the Ash Hole. This year’s schedule also includes live music, burlesque shows, belly dancing and jumprope gurus Double Dutch Empire.
In addition, five tattoo contests will be held each day to spur some competition among the experienced artists. Each “Tattoo of the Day” contest winner will be awarded a custom engraved Paco Rollins Tattoo Machine commemorative trophy. Seminars covering a range of tattoo topics will also be held each day.
The Seattle Tattoo Expo main events are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 12 (2 to 10 p.m.), Saturday, Aug. 13 (12 to 10 p.m.), and Sunday, Aug. 14 (12 to 8 p.m.) In addition to the main expo events, don’t forget to check out the pre- and post-show events, as well. The tattoo expo will be held in the Northwest Rooms of the Seattle Center; tickets cost $15.75 per day ($47.25 for a three-day pass).
