In a time where popular music is dominated by synthesizers and robotic noise, it’s a breath of fresh air to witness the simplicity of four perfectly syncopated voices that have been singing together for forty years. As world –renowned winners of multiple Grammy awards, it seems The Manhattan Transfer’s series of eight concerts at the Jazz Alley are too good to be true.

With an astounding ten Grammy awards, two platinum albums, and fourteen gold albums, The Manhattan Transfer has undoubtedly stood the test of time. The group’s name, which references their New York roots, was formed by original member Tim Hauser in 1969, which gradually – over three waves of members – settled into its current lineup of Alan Paul, Janis Siegel, and Cheryl Bentyne in 1978. For lovers of upbeat jazz and finely tuned vocals, look no further than this impressive quartet.
