The Spot: It is with great regret that we share one of Seattle’s best sushi restaurants. Why you ask? Well, Tsukushinbo serves some of the best Japanese in the city, but this small, hidden jewel offers only a few tables. Our wait time just went up.

Family owned and run, Tsukushinbo offers authentic cuisine at an affordable price. You won’t find any expensive fufu mayo-filled rolls here. Owner Mike will greet you with a smile and his son will wow you with his ability to skillfully prepare their fresh fish. Be sure to sit at the sushi bar if a seat is available.

The Dish: Tsukushinbo can easily claim Seattle’s best sushi, miso soup, and katsu curry. Yet, for this review we’ll focus on their gyoza. This isn’t the limp and uninspiring dumpling you’ve probably had elsewhere. Here you’ll find a perfectly crispy gyoza filled with deliciously seasoned pork. Enjoy these six pieces of heaven as the perfect appetizer to your sushi dinner.
