Back by popular demand: “Yellow Face.”
Repertory Actors Theatre (ReAct) and sketch comedy group, Pork Filled Players (PFP), gives the critically acclaimed hit, “Yellow Face” a second run this month in Seattle.
Written by the celebrated Asian-American playwright, David Henry Hwang, “Yellow Face” is the story of how Hwang helped lead the protest against yellow-face casting in Miss Saigon, only to later accidentally cast a white actor as the lead Asian role in his own Broadway show.
“Yellow Face” plays Thursdays – Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm.
It’s a combination of real events, and real people, and a reflection on the irony of it all, which then makes for a great comedy and reality check.
The play addresses and laughs at the role of race in modern American life, theatre, and politics. If you’re a fan of provocative humor, this may be is your cup of tea.
“Yellow Face” is directed by David Hsieh, “Yellow Face” stars Julia Beers, Jeremy Behrens, Stephanie Kim, Tyler Miller, Richard Nguyen Sloniker, Herny Vu and Moses Yim – the usuals, for those familiar with the theater group.
The Repertory Actors Theatre is based on promoting the diversity the community and produce innovative, quality theatrical entertainment through multi-ethnic and non-traditional casting.
If you like “Yellow Face” you’ll be back for more performances by this group.
