Food Porn: I Love Sushi

South Lake Union’s I Love Sushi.

In this edition of Food Porn, we feature Lake Union’s I Love Sushi, featuring fresh Japanese cuisine since 1992. The second location of I Love Sushi, this location offers beautiful views of the water and a lakeside patio. Having trained in Japan since the age of 16, Chef Hideaki Taneda creates a menu
that inspires and informs American food lovers of the beauty of Japanese cuisine.

Sea Foie Gras with Scallop features a soft monkfish foie gras, raw scallop, and a miso reduction. Other appetizers include Snow Crab Salad and Seafood Poke. Warm shared plates include Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, Saba Shioyaki, and Chilean Miso Sea Bass Miso.

Omakase options include Chef Taneda’s featured fish of the day and range from nigiri sushi or sashimi for $35 and up to a 6-course meal for $55. Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means “I’ll leave it to you”, basically entrusting the chef to be innovative and surprising in the selection of dishes. It can be a gamble, but it can pay off, receiving delicious plates that one wouldn’t have ordered or would have been more expensive a la carte.
