IN THE KNOW: Macy’s Holiday Parade & Star Lighting is November 27th

This is the 25th anniversary of the parade in Seattle.

Come celebrate the holiday season with the 25th Annual Macy’s Holiday Parade and Star Lighting Ceremony. The parade includes festive floats, costumed characters and local community groups, all followed by Santa, who will arrive at Macy’s where he’ll officially open Santaland for the 2015 Christmas season. 
The parade will feature 25 inflatable floats, local middle and high school marching bands, nearly 650 costumed characters, professional sports teams and community drill teams. Once again, Macy’s signature inflatable floats will make their appearance in this Seattle tradition including a new inflatable float named “Cloe the Clown.” Cloe is a smaller version of one of Macy’s first helium balloons in the New York Thanksgiving Day Parade.

  • Where: Macy’s Downtown Seattle

The Macy’s Holiday Parade starts on the corner of 7th Avene and Pine St, and will travel west down Pine to 5th Ave, south on 5th to University S., west on University to 4th Ave, and then north on 4th before concluding at the front of Macy’s Department Store at approximately 11:00 AM.

The official lighting of the famous Macy’s Star at 5 PM, followed by an awesome fireworks display (weather permitting).

Macy’s and Charitable Partnerships Benefit Pediatric Hospitals: For the last 15 years, Aflac has partnered with Macy’s to provide holiday happiness. The 2015 Aflac Holiday Duck is available for purchase in two sizes, 6-inch for $10 and 10-inch for $15. 100% of net proceeds will benefit pediatric cancer hospitals across the country. Available at Macy’s, macys.com, and aflacduckprints.com.

To celebrate the season of giving, the Paper and Packaging–How Life Unfolds ™ campaign, in conjunction with Macy’s, is offering #SharePackage, a pre-paid, pre-addressed postal box guests can fill for children in local children’s hospitals over the holidays. Paper and packaging play a major role during the holidays, often bringing loved ones together.
