Heavy Restaurant Group’s latest restaurant, Meet the Moon, opened two weeks ago in the heart of Leschi. The concept is to be an inviting and informal neighborhood gathering place with casual, but thoughtful and flavorful food. Meet the Moon gets started early in the morning, offering espresso and coffee from local Olympia Coffee Roasting Company as well as a nice selection of housemade pastries and breakfast items—all available to go. 

For a more relaxed morning, dine-in and order the Crispy French Toast, Breakfast Burrito, or Biscuits and Gravy. As the day progresses, the menu offers soup, salads, snacks, and sandwiches as well as additional drink offerings that feature craft distilleries and breweries and wine options. The dinner hour expands on the lunch menu with entrees such as a Mushroom Pot Pie and Chicken Bolognese.

SEATTLEITE MUST-ORDER: Avocado Toast and Curried Lentil Hash

Avocado Toast with shallots, lemon, and topped with arugula, parmesan, and hot paprika is a nice starter with a winning combination of flavors. Lotus Root Chips with wasabi guacamole is a great snack to share. The chips have a subtle flavor and the wasabi guacamole is a great concept—it just needs to step up the wasabi—but is currently good guacamole.

Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich with spicy pickled relish, chipotle aioli on toasted brioche. The chicken was moist and fried perfectly, the only complaint is there was bit too much bun. Albacore Tuna Poke uses quality fish that is seasoned well and served over soba noodles, with chile flakes, shredded vegetables, and a soy dressing. Curried Lentil Hash was my favorite dish and something I could eat for many days in a row. It’s hearty and filling, served in a skillet, and seasoned perfectly.

Breakfast is served Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 11:00 am. Weekend Brunch is 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Lunch runs Monday through Friday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and dinner nightly from 4:00 pm to close.
