Need an excuse to dress up, enjoy some bites and wine, enjoy a live performance, and all for a great cause? Then grab your friends (or a date) and make plans to attend the 2nd Annual Canciones Para Puerto Rico for what is sure to be an unforgettable night.
Join Seattle’s finest opera singers, accompanied by Glenda Williams, previous principal opera coach/accompanist at the University of Washington and Cornish College of the Arts, and recent 2018 Chopin Northwest Competition’s gold medalist, Luke Raffanti, along with The Montlake Duo, as they perform Spanish canciones and romantic zarzuelas.

If you have ever been curious about opera, then this is the event to attend as your ticket includes delicious Caribbean-inspired soul food appetizers and rich wine pours (available for purchase with ticket or a la carte) courtesy of Columbia City’s Island Soul Rum Bar & Soul Shack and Yakima Valley’s Paradisos del Sol Winery and Organic Vineyard’s, respectively.

Co-hosting with the winery and restaurant is the La Isla Foundation, a volunteer-led non-profit organization in Seattle working to help enhance living conditions and provide solutions for sustainable growth and development throughout Puerto Rico, Congregational Church on Mercer Island, Opera On Tap Seattle, and the Mercer Island High School Spanish Club. All proceeds raised will benefit the The Juan Sanchez Rivera Fisherman’s Association, a group of 19 fishermen, including divers, anglers, and net fishermen, located in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, to replace equipment destroyed during the back-to-back hurricanes in 2017.

Can’t make it out but still want to help? Visit the fishermen association’s Amazon wish list here or donate to the La Isla Foundation here.
