A new shop is in town (think hipster bodega) with a big selection of thoughtfully curated specialty magazines, stationary, beer wine, champagne, and sundries—a fancy word for assorted things. Big Little News is a proudly queer and woman-owned, operated, and staffed business now open on 11th & Pike (1102 E. Pike St.).
“Print matters,” said Joey Burgess, co-owner of Big Little News and owner and operator of Queer Bar, Cuff Complex, and The Woods. “We feel it’s a metropolitan necessity to have newsstands, magazine shops, and bodegas on our streets. We also wanted to have a design-driven approach to the medium.”
Burgess’ husband, Murf Hall, Director of Store Planning at Nordstrom, designed the new space, longtime building partner Bodhi Builders handled the construction, and Art Director Tanner McLaughlin executed the branding package.
Big Little News features more than 250 foreign and domestic magazines, coffee table books champagne, wine, beer, and other sundries. What a fun store to browse (with a mask!).
