Early Spring Happenings: A Food & Drink Festival on Whidbey Island, Oyster Tastings, and More

Spring is upon us, and we are gladly welcoming the longer days that are ahead. With the new season comes plenty of exciting things happening in Seattle and the surrounding area. Take a look at what’s to come and mark your calendars for anything that catches your eye!

Wine, Bites & Brew on Whidbey Island

A new food and drink festival is coming to Whidbey Island on March 25th! Wine, Bites & Brew will take place in historic downtown Oak Harbor and will offer tastes from local wineries, breweries, and restaurants. The event will feature Whidbey Island libation producers like Comforts of Whidbey Winery, Dancing Fish Vineyards, Penn Cove Brewing Company, and Whidbey Island Distillery. Popular Oak Harbor restaurants like Fraser’s Gourmet Hideaway, Rustica Italian Restaurant, and Zanini’s Delicatessen will be in attendance as well.

Wine, Bites & Brew will take place 2:00 – 5:00 pm at the Oak Harbor Yacht Club. Tickets are $85/person and include 10 drink tasting tokens, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and accompaniments. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Oak Harbor Main Street Association Serendipity Lane Walkway Project. Tickets are on sale now at this link

What She Said: Food, Beverage, and Bosses at W Seattle

W Seattle is hosting a food-focused event for Women’s History Month on Thursday, March 23rd called What She Said: Food, Beverage, and Bosses. A signature event for the hotel, What She Said aims to elevate and celebrate female voices in a variety of male-dominated industries and to provide a safe space for women to share their experiences and to be heard. This year’s theme is food and beverage and it’s a great chance for attendees to mix and mingle with some awesome female food and beverage bosses. There will be swag bags and prizes, too!

This event will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tickets are $60/person and can be purchased here.

Taste Oysters at Alderbook Resort & Spa

During the month of April, Hood Canal oysters are at their peak, and the team at Alderbrook Resort & Spa is introducing a lineup of tasty, artistic, and adventurous ways to enjoy these beautiful bivalves. With many programs led by Chef Sara Harvey, an oyster farmer herself, monthly happenings include:

  • Oyster Shell Painting at Union City Market: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays in April, all day, self-guided
  • Oyster BBQs at the Patio at Alderbrook: Thursdays in April, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

Uneeda Burger’s Seasonal Treats

Uneeda Burger is known for its delicious burgers and seasonal milkshakes. This season the salted caramel pretzel milkshake is the newest member of Uneeda’s hand-dipped, made to order goodies. This masterful marriage of salty and sweet blends vanilla ice cream with salted caramel and crumbled pretzels. Come for the treats alone, or enjoy with the classic burger, a seasonal elk or salmon burger, tempura mushrooms, and more.
