The most dynamic culinary festival in North America is back on the road with its national nose-to- tail pig cooking tour. Cochon555 brings its 2017 edition—which will hit some 16 cities—to Seattle on Sunday, April 30th, and the focus of the festivities will be culinary community and education. At the heart of all Cochon555 events lies a culinary competition to promote local family farming and global traditions.

We had the chance to chat with Artistic Director, Mark Shaub, and Adagio artist Kelly McDonald of the Cirque du Soleil’s LUZIA show arriving in Seattle on March 30th (get your tickets soon!). LUZIA takes you to imaginary Mexico, like in a waking dream, where light quenches the spirit and the rain soothes the soul. Freely inspired by Mexico, LUZIA is a poetic and acrobatic ode to the rich, vibrant culture of a country whose wealth stems from an extraordinary mix of influences and creative collisions.
We only dined at Naka once before it closed its doors in January. Maybe Seattle wasn’t ready for Naka’s fine dining kaiseki concept, offering 6, 10 and 15-course menu options. Nevertheless, we were pleased to hear that Chef Shota Nakajima reopened with a new concept in the same space as Adana. The food, the dining experience, and the service are still as high quality as before—with a more approachable and affordable menu.
The first SoulCycle in the Seattle area opened in January at the Lincoln expansion in downtown Bellevue and I was excited to check it out. I was told it takes about three classes to really “get” SoulCycle so I bought their $60 3-class starter pack (discounted from the usual $28 per class). The BVUE Soul Starter Pack is still available for a limited time!

Valentine’s Day is three weeks away. If you’re like us, you’re busy. Busy doesn’t have to mean that we can’t give thoughtful, useful, and unique gifts to our loved ones though. Knack utilizes local and regional artisans who have a great story and then arranges them into gift sets or Knacks.
The countdown is on! In just 11 days, SOULCYCLE BELLEVUE will be open!
That’s right. On Friday, January 20th, SoulCycle is kicking off the cardio party at the very first Seattle-area studio at 500 Bellevue Way in the Lincoln Square expansion. And with a rockstar instructor lineup (learn more HERE and below!), lockers with USB ports, showers, signature SOUL retail and our one-of-a-kind rides, we can’t wait for you to check it out.
KeyBank Broadway at The Paramount is pleased to announce that FINDING NEVERLAND will play The Paramount Theatre from January 10 – 15, 2017. Based on the Academy Award-winning Miramax motion picture by David Magee, and the play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee, Finding Neverland follows the relationship between playwright J.M. Barrie and the family that inspired Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up – one of the most beloved stories of all time.
Located at the bottom of Stone Way, on the border of Fremont and Wallingford, Thackeray opened two weeks ago. The restaurant and bar has a neighborhood feel with a warm, inviting, and spacious atmosphere and eclectic decor. The menu is seasonally and Mediterranean-inspired and the service and staff are welcoming and friendly.
Washington winemaker Charles Smith is bringing holiday cheer (and music) to Georgetown with his first annual holiday bash at Charles Smith Wines Jet City. The festival is this Friday, December 16th and will feature three great bands on Mike McCready’s HockeyTalkter label: Danny Newcomb & The Sugarmakers, Stereo Embers, and Star Anna.
