THE BUZZ:What happens when the freshest options from the market move across the street and up three floors? Matt’s in the Market.

With the weather finally starting to turn (it’s turning right?) there is no better space to take in an enjoyable lunch than Matt’s. Perched above the tourist driven corner of Pike’s Place in the Corner Market Building, the restaurant began small but with a strong, local presence overlooking the mass of visitors. Now however, with Chef Chester Gerl at the helm and producing the freshest dishes, Matt’s space has grown and the menu continues to fill it.

That menu, specifically the lunch, is small but focused. I subscribe to the theory that it’s better to do a few things incredibly well, instead of a gazillion moderately, leaving me a fan of the three current entrees, and wishing there was all the time in the world for Matt’s sandwiches. Speaking of one such sandwich (Stumptown BBQ Pulled Pork), you know it’s from Seattle when they use coffee beans from across the street for the barbecue sauce. I said it — local pork and coffee together.

What more could a Seattlite want?
