Seattle’s largest and longest running food and wine event, Taste Washington, debuted in Portland at the Pure Space event venue in the Pearl District Sunday. Nearly 100 Washington state wineries and a handful of Portland restaurants were on display for ticket holders, who filled the space to the brim.
Portlanders were able to put the wine names to the faces as winemakers poured their own juice. Those on hand included Caleb Foster of Buty Winery; Brennon Leighton of EFESTE; and Chris Sparkman of Sparkman Cellars. Leslie Palmer, chef and owner of Thirst Wine Bar & Bistro, was serving up her own dishes, as was Pour Wine Bar owner and former Oregonian food critic Robert Volz. This inaugural event brought diehard foodies, fascinated novices and local sommeliers together for a successful occasion celebrating the Northwest’s best in gastronomy and enology.
