A week-long dining extravaganza, capped off with a Japanese whisky tasting.
This month, Dragonfish Asian Café is celebrating its 14th birthday – and Seattleites are invited to join in the festivities. From Monday, June 6 to Saturday, June 11, the time-honored Pine Street eatery will offer $14 three-course mini menus, featuring some of the edible favorites that have made Dragonfish so popular with Emerald City foodies.
A fusion of five Asian cuisine styles (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese), the Dragonfish menu contains an exotic assortment of Far East mouth-waterers. Popular mainstays such as Caramel Ginger Chicken and Lime Rickey Shrimp share the bill with recent additions, including Tempura Peppered Bacon and Squid Ink Noodles.
The weeklong party will culminate at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, when Dragonfish will hold a Japanese Whisky Tasting to showcase the café’s newest food and drink offerings. The highlight of this flavorful evening will be the new cocktail menu by Kathy Casey Liquid Kitchen (KCLK), who established the restaurant’s tropical cocktail menu when it opened in 1997.
KCLK’s famed mixologist Andrew Bohrer will be on hand to discuss the history of Japanese whisky – as well as the culture behind this world-renowned spirit. As an added bonus, Bohrer will offer a tutorial on how to make Japanese ice spheres – a truly eye-catching way to keep your drink cold.
Guests will be greeted with Dragonfish’s Yamazaki Yacht Club Cocktail made with Yamazaki 12-year whisky, Velvet Falernum and St. Elizabeth’s Allspice Dram on the rocks. Featured whiskies for the event will include Hibiki 12-year blend, Yamazaki 12-year single malt, and the Yamazaki 18-year single malt. Tickets are $35 per person, with a substantial chunk of the proceeds allocated for the community of Ishinomaki, Japan — one of the areas hit hardest by the recent tsunami.
If you would like to reserve a spot for Saturday’s event, please call (206) 467-7777. Otherwise, drop into the café any day this week for the menu special. Happy birthday Dragonfish, from all of us at Seattleite!
