Dress in Lederhosen and Dirndl at Fremont Oktoberfest

Celebrate a German tradition in Fremont this weekend.

There are few better ways to greet the autumn chill than by enjoying delicious beers and ciders with good company. This weekend, the Fremont Oktoberfest will be doing just that, and invites you to join in the fun.

More than 40 breweries will pour their favorites at the Fremont Oktoberfest Tasting Garden, including featured fall brews. Whether you like the crisp sweetness of a cider or the aggression of a dry-hopped IPA, it’s a good idea to know what’s on tap, so check out the sampling schedule before you go.

Beer-lovers looking for more than a 5-ounce tasting mug can visit the Tap House Grill Buxom Beer Garden, where they can sit and sip on their choice of a 16-ounce brew, a ½ liter stein or a 1-liter stein in the covered beer garden. Located within the Fremont Oktoberfest Tasting Garden, the Buxom Beer Garden will also hold the Buxom Royalty Contest, which is back by popular demand.

If you find yourself in need of a break from the crowd, or you just want to relax while sipping delicious libations, you’ll want to visit one of Fremont Oktoberfest’s many lounges located all over inside the tasting garden.

Fremont Oktoberfest isn’t just for adults, though. The Village hosts events for kids and dogs as well. The Kids’ Area will have activities such as Zucchini 500 decorating and racing, pumpkin bowling and carving, and arts and crafts. Dogs can walk the runway and participate in a doggie water tasting at Dogtoberfest. Also held in the Village are the Texas Chainsaw Pumpkin Carving and the Pyramid Breweries Village Beer Garden.

Visitors can look forward to enjoying great music as they drink up in the tasting garden., as the Verizon Main Stage and the Oktoberfest Village Stage include a full line-up of entertainers this year. You can look at the schedule and read the bands’ bios on the website.

If you’re up to some physical activity after a weekend of drinking, don’t hesitate to enter the 9th annual 5K & Street Scramble on Sunday morning. You can enter as a team or on your own, and some participants will even qualify to enter the Beer Belly Division. Either way, you’ll be rewarded with a refreshing 12-ounce can of Pyramid Hefeweizen at the end!
