Hotter than buffalo sauce, cooler than celery and ranch dressing.
Right now, sports fans can enjoy the MLB play-offs (the Mariners are still in it, right?) and the NFL regular season — and where you watch the game is just as important as the outcome. Depending on how superstitious you are, one place might have strategic advantages over another. Amongst this uncertainty, your game will be on at The Wing Dome. The food is great, and you always need a napkin.
Fresh off a second place finish for best wing in the nation, The Wing Dome’s inaugural entrance featured their face-melting 7-alarm wing. Luckily, they have plenty of other options, in both the wing and appetizer department — and all the suds needed to stem the fire. If it’s been a while since you’ve just went to town on some food, find your neighborhood’s Wing Dome, throw the diet ambitions aside, pick up a wet nap, and say, “hello” to the long, grey winter.
Must-Have Grub: To be honest, the wings are the show. During happy hour, The Wing Dome slathers them up for 59 cents each — and this calls for a platter. I feel appropriately hot taking on the 4-alarm — though the Honey Mustard wings actually have more heat. I love the sweetness of the Kamikaze, and the Triple-Garlics — complete with minced cloves — go down without the after- effects of, say, Safeco garlic fries.
Looking for the whole experience? The rest of the appetizer menu is half-priced during happy hour, allowing items like the Dip Sticks (dipped mozzarella in seasoned breading) and Fried Pickle Chips to shine in there own rite. The famous Bag O’ Burgers — which consists of three sliders topped with cheddar and jalapeno mayo — is also available for $3 during the best of times (it’s normally $6.99).
Must-Have Libations: If there ever a place where a beverage is required, The Wing Dome is it. All day Monday and during Happy Hour, four bottles of domestic beer are available for $9 and the same number of bottled micro-brew wells are yours for $13. Additional Happy Hour deals include a $2 discount on pitchers — which is great, thanks to an impressive local tap run — and well drinks for $3.19 each. Sorry fancy cocktail lovers, but this old car garage isn’t going to do any fancy mixology anytime soon.
If it’s been a while since you’ve just gotten down on some food, find your neighborhood’s Wing Dome, throw the diet ambitions aside, pick up a wet nap, and say, “hello” to the long, grey winter.
Happy Times: All day Monday, each wing is 59 cents. In addition, Monday to Friday 3 — 6 p.m. (dine-in only).
