Cavalia Gallops Back To The Northwest

Marymoor Park welcomes the equestrian musical extravaganza.

Under the largest big-top tent on Earth, Cavalia prepares to dazzle audiences with an upcoming series of performances in Redmond. This French troupe of 38 human performers and 45 horses has charmed Seattleites since the show’s Northwest debut in 2004. Now, Cavalia has scheduled 25 shows in Marymoor Park from Wednesday, Jan. 18 to Sunday, Feb. 12.

The show fuses performing arts, multimedia and special effects with the loyal relationship between humans and horses throughout history. The fairy tale setting comes to life through poetry, acrobatics, dance, aerial stunts, live music and equestrian arts.

The stage stretches nearly 165 feet, allowing horses (and their riders) to stage a series of choreographed sequences that demonstrate vaulting, haute école, pas de deux and other equestrian techniques mastered by these skilled performers throughout the years.

Normand Latourelle, President and Artistic Director of Cavalia and a co-founder of Cirque de Soleil, and his performers have earned universal praise from critics. “The greatest show I have ever seen!” proclaimed CNN’s Larry King. “Like being in a dream. I loved it!” Citing its broad appeal, The San Francisco Chronicle raves that the show “takes horse play to a whole new level…even for non-horsey folk.”

Since 2004, Latourelle said he and the members of his production have been eager to return to the Northwest. “Cavalia is continually evolving to highlight not only the strengths and personalities of new artists and horses, but to present them in virtual settings created by the latest multimedia technology available,” he said. “We look forward to sharing this experience with the Seattle community.”

The show is quite a spectacle. All of the performers, the stage and a 210-foot projection screen are housed beneath the 26,264-square-foot tent, which exceeds a height of 100 feet.

Adult ticket prices for Cavalia range from $34.50 to $89.50, with two upgrades available. Horse Lover tickets ($129.50) include front row seats and an exclusive tour of the Cavalia stable after the show. Rendez-vous VIP tickets ($179.50) include access to the Rendes-vous VIP Lounge 90 minutes prior to the show, during intermission and after the show, as well as center row seats, a VIP Pass, pre-show food service, refreshments at intermission, exclusive Cavalia stables tour and a show souvenir. Discounted rates are available for seniors (65+) juniors (13-17), children (2-12). All tickets may be purchased online, or by calling (866) 999-8111.
