Italian wine meets Irish whiskey.
Barolo Chinato (one of Italy’s finest aperitifs) meets Tullamore Dew (one of Ireland’s most acclaimed whiskeys) for this match made in cocktail heaven. It may seem like an odd couple at first, but the smooth flavors of the wine mix with the malty, smoky undertones of the whiskey to create a rich and complex (yet balanced) cocktail. It also has a bold name to match. This libation would make any oenophile or whiskey connoisseur proud.
The Not So Secret Recipe:
- 2 ounces Tullamore Dew
- 1 ounce Barolo Chinato
- ½ ounce Dry Vermouth
- A rinse of house-made bitters
Stir with ice and serve with a large orange twist and a bourbon soaked cherry.
In 1981, a whimsically-inclined, twentysomething Italian-American ingénue used her creative touch (and inspirations from world travel) to turn an empty cellar into an inviting Bohemian trattoria. For more than 30 years, guests from around the world have flocked to The Pink Door for authentic Italian dishes and entertaining cabaret shows.
