Couples that cook together, stay together — isn’t that how the old saying goes?
One thing’s for sure: couples that attend the upcoming culinary class from Parties That Cook will have a great time and learn a thing or two in the process (and we’re not just talking about cooking techniques). Hosted by the Seattle Wine Outlet, Date Night Couples’ Cooking Class will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20.
This class will teach you and your partner a variety of innovative cooking techniques as you work together to create a tasty array of gourmet appetizers. Don’t worry — after a couple hours spent slaving away in the kitchen, you’ll both get to enjoy the finished products. Dishes include: spice-crusted salmon skewers with Harissa yogurt dipping sauce; mini-apple, Roquefort and caramelized onion pies with honey; and sweet potato pancakes with crispy prosciutto and sour cream.
By “slaving,” we really mean listening to upbeat music, sipping a glass of wine and (probably) sneaking a few delicious bites along the way. Tickets ($150 per couple) are available online.
The second class will be held at Woodinville’s EFESTE Winery from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Valentine’s Day Winery Couples Cooking Class is a delicious way to treat your significant other on the most romantic day of the year.
Couples are greeted at the door with hors d’oeuvres and a glass of wine. After a brief introduction, they are whisked away to the kitchen to whip up a series of elegant dishes. Valentine’s Day projects include: whole grain mustard and garlic-marinated beef brochettes with kumquat aioli; grilled shrimp with cocoa nib romesco; and chocolate pretzel cookies with Mexican hot chocolate dipping sauce. Tickets ($230 per couple) are available online.
Love what you made? Copies of all recipes and photos of the dishes will be e-mailed to guests after the class. In addition to Seattle, Parties That Cook sponsors year-round events in Portland, San Francisco and Chicago.
