The Seattleite team weigh-in on their foodie must-haves!
We are blessed to be in a city with a bountiful variety of grubalicious food, but only a few lucky establishments have made the cut as one of our “March Foodie Madness” dishes. Choosing the city’s best dishes wasn’t an easy task, and all of us at Seattleite have our own favorites. Here’s a list of our team’s must-haves and why they are obsessed!

Ashley Genevieve | Photo Ace | The Pick: Szechuan Noodle Bowl | The Dish: Spicy Veggie Dumplings | The Pitch: I CRAVE these guys on a regular. Hand made dumplings and noodles by a cute little asian lady often at the table next to you. So fresh!
Brad Nehring | Contributor | The Pick: Pintxo Seattle | The Dish: Bacon-Wrapped Dates | The Pitch: These filling morsels are the perfect balance of sweet (fresh Medjul dates), savory (crispy bacon) and sharp (creamy goat cheese filling). At the best tapas joint in Seattle, these little darlings reign supreme.
Bridget Blake | Dine on a Dime Columnist | The Pick: La Carta de Oaxaca | The Dish: Chicken Mole Negro Oaxaqueno | The Pitch: This dish is rich in flavor and low in cost — that’s hard to beat. Wrap the chicken mole up with rice in one of their homemade tortillas, and it’s pure bliss.
Corinne Whiting | Culture Dose Columnist | The Pick: Bimbo’s Cantina | The Dish: No Meato Burrito | The Pitch: Since moving here last fall, I haven’t found too many Mexican restaurants to frequent, but Bimbo’s hits the spot every time. Even though I’m not a vegetarian, dishes like this convince me that I easily could be. In a super-soft tortilla, this gem flawlessly combines rice and beans with unexpected goodies like guacamole, olives and (who knew?) sunflower seeds. Que rico!
Erin Thomas | Corks+Forks Columnist | The Pick: Monsoon | The Dish: Crispy local Drunken Chicken | The Pitch: Whether in the lunch rice bowl form or the dinner menu’s version of it laid out on sauteed yu choy, the chicken is coated in a sweet and spicy sauce you will never forget and forever crave.
Ian Dinsmore | In Technicolor Columnist | The Pick: Walrus and the Carpenter | The Dish: Smoked Trout | The Pitch: Trout is a delicate fish to cook that can easily be left dry and flaky. That’s not the case with Walrus’ smoked trout: the combination of perfect seasoning, crème fraiche and pickled onion will have you ordering seconds and most likely thirds.
Jane Yuan | Chief Seattleite | The Pick: Plum Bistro | The Dish: Portobella Steak | The Pitch: I’m obsessed with their Portobello Steak, it’s made to perfection — crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but everything at this vegan eatery is so good and so good for you!
John Ferensen | Technophilia Columnist | The Pick: Toulouse Petit | The Dish: Pan Seared Diver Scallops | The Pitch: Yes, we know how awesome the happy hour is, but greatness is reserved for the dinner menu; and this scallop dish, served on a mound of sweet corn, haricots verts, tasso and crispy fried shallots, swims laps around all others in town.
Jon Meyer | Happenin’ Happy Hour Columnist | The Pick: Rancho Bravo | The Dish: Pork Burrito | The Pitch: With the qualifier being: “What have I eaten the most of in the last six months?” the answer is undoubtedly my late night OCD fix of meat, rice, cilantro, onions, and a medium hot sauce from a nondescript eatery on Capitol Hill.
Mary Ann Rozance | Get Out and Go Columnist | The Pick: Agua Verde Cafe & Paddle Club | The Dish: Yam Tacos | The Pitch: After renting a kayak and cruising around on Lake Union, I crave a margarita and yam tacos from Agua Verde. Relaxing on the waterfront always reminds me of how lucky I am to live in Seattle.
Taylor Moore | The Radar Columnist | The Pick: Paseo | The Dish: The Cuban Roast | If you are a Seattleite and have not had one of these AMAZING sandwiches then I don’t think you can truly call yourself a Seattleite. The Cuban Roast is hands down the best, most succulent, melt-in-your-mouth, hot, dripping sandwich you will ever have the pleasure of laying your hands on. It’s really just that good.
