Pop culture and comic lovers unite for the ultimate Seattle geek fest.
Local comic lovers likely have been gearing up for this event all year, and now it’s your turn to get excited for Emerald City Comicon!
If you haven’t heard of this hugely popular event, ECCC is the largest comic book and pop culture convention in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 2003, ECCC has brought well-known comic talent to the area every year it’s been held.
A programming schedule for each day is listed online, which is helpful to check out before you go so you can plan ahead. You can also find a list of exhibitors and special guests posted on ECCC’s website. One famous guest includes George Takei, who wrote on his Facebook page last month that according to the social networking site, Seattle has the most fans on his page of any city.
ECCC just wouldn’t be the same without some of the special events it features. Don your best costume attire on Saturday, and enter the costume party for a chance to win an exclusive ECCC medallion award. If you’re interested in winning someone’s heart instead, then join the crew of Sci-Fi Speed Dating and the stars of the TLC show “Geek Love” for the Sci-Fi Speed Dating event going on Saturday and Sunday. For after hours events, ECCC has you covered. Check its website to find more information on the art shows, music and book club events being held each night.
The Emerald City Comicon will take place Friday, March 30 from 2 to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Washington State Convention Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at select retailers while supplies last. You can visit the website for more information on prices.
