Dine with the world’s top chefs in the name of food education.

Last year I wrote about what was probably the most mind-expanding dinner I’ve ever eaten. It took place at the Modernist Cuisine Laboratory, where the James Beard award-winning culinary tome, Modernist Cuisine, was created. Many of you know by now that Modernist Cuisine swept the globe with detailed explanations of culinary techniques both simple and complex, however most of you have yet to taste creations from the tome, and especially not as prepared directly from its authors. Until now.
The team behind Modernist Cuisine is hosting a public dinner for the first time ever in order to shed light on the incredibly meaningful organizations out there that are committed to demonstrating the power of food education as a means for dramatic and necessary change. The dinner, which is on June 21st, 2012 from 6-9pm at Palace Ballroom, will feature 30 courses in typical Modernist Cuisine fashion, but will deviate from the lab dinners in that surprise guest chefs will collaborate with the team along with some well-known foodie glitterati such at Tom Douglas. In addition to the food, a showcase of the best of the Northwest’s wines, beers and spirits will further enhance the experience.
According to Maxime Bilet, co-author of Modernist Cuisine, “While writing Modernist Cuisine and Modernist Cuisine at Home these past five years, I’ve had the benefit of crossing paths with some incredible organizations that share our passion for education and the joy of feeding others. These wonderful groups are empowering people with the skills to cook, create and have a healthier relationship with food. This dinner is about telling their story and the possibilities for meaningful change through their hard work.”
There are 25 seats open to the public to attend this coveted dinner. The seats are only available via live auction. Proceeds will go to the organizations present at the event which the Modernist Cuisine team wishes to highlight, such as FareStart, Food Lifeline, Teen Feed, Hopelink, Castings, and the Hunger Intervention Program.
For more information on how to purchase tickets, please visit the event page which has a link to the live auction.
