Indie vintage band Daniel Kirkpatrick and the Bayonets take down the Tractor Tavern.

Self described as Tom Petty meets Elvis Costello; doesn’t that tickle your curiosity? After several years of rehearsing and couch hopping, and spending some time in the legendary Seattle recording house Robert Lang Studios, (which has recorded the likes of Nirvana and Death Cab for Cutie) Daniel Kirkpatrick and pals Jordan Cassidy and Spencer Booth of the Daniel Kirkpatrick and the Bayonets have landed their first album in early 2013. They recruited Kristen Palmer to sing backups on a few tracks, and Kirkpatrick boasts that he’s written songs inspired by 60’s pop culture, and came up with melodies people can connect and sing to. The percussions by Booth seem to chime in nicely with Cassidy’s bass, creating a lovely stage for Kirkpatrick’s lyrics to ring true to local audiences. Their last show at the Tractor Tavern was a huge success, and their upcoming show is predicted to sell out.
Where: I’m embarrassed to admit this is my first time covering a show at Ballard’s beloved Tractor Tavern, one of the best local venues dedicated to hosting local talent. But it won’t be my last; this 21+ venue is right in the heart of downtown Ballard, a lovely hot spot to start your evening out with a live show.
