An Italian gem on the Eastside.

In this edition of Food Porn, we feature Lucia, a gem in the Eastside neighborhood of Kirkland. The restaurant has high ceilings, modern black decor, and full of well-dressed young professionals. However, it is also a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that many families enjoy. Patio seating on over-sized cushioned seats are perfect during the warm, summer months, or even on chillier nights with warmth from heat lamps.

Their signature dish, Truffle Spaghetti and Meatballs featured moist and soft meatballs that had great flavor and were light. My only problem was that there were only two and then you’re left with a whole plate of pasta! The Potato Gnocchi with Braised Short Rib was satisfying; the gnocchi was creamy and soft and the short rib was moist and tender.

The Seared Sea Bass Piccata with a lemon caper white wine sauce, pepperonata, and roasted potatoes was cooked well. The breading on the fish was not a great choice, masking the fresh fish, and reminiscent of fish tacos. However, inside, the sea bass was tender and the sauce had a nice flavor, with a hint of citrus. The Pancetta Carbonara was one of the favorites and is ultra rich. Topped with a fried egg, sauteed pancetta, peas, carbonara sauce, this is loaded with both flavor and fat (fat is flavor, right?)
