Who: Born and raised in Chicago, IL Wasalu Muhammad, better known as Lupe Fiasco, always struggled with the tug of war he associated with the Food and Liquor marts close to home; the food symbolizing his inner peace with family and friends, and the liquor… well he’s tried to control the liquor. Lupe Fiasco is an artist through and through, never relying on anyone’s opinion to deter his path in the industry. He was for a long time hip-hop’s best kept secret, and has come a long way since his debut album as a solo artist Food & Liquor was released in 2006. Fiasco has been known to seek inspiration from the atmosphere quite literally, climbing Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro for both charity and clarity, and his wisdom and understanding speaks through his 4th album release of Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album. Not your average sequel, (or hiphop album) F&L 2 incorporates deep rooted issues woven throughout American history, as well as  Muhammad’s Fiascos. His ability to captively share stories through his meticulous rap capabilities is truly a gift not  many in the industry can compare, especially in the hip hop realm.
