Gourmet burgers on the Eastside.
In this edition of Grub Alert, we feature Tipsy Cow Burger Bar, located on the Eastside, which has been in dire need of a legit burger bar for some time. The ceilings are high and industrial-looking, giving it a trendy, yet casual feel that fits perfectly with the up and coming downtown area of Redmond. Tipsy Cow supports local products ranging from their wine and brews to their 100% grass-fed beef from Long Valley Ranch. Tipsy Cow offers tasty food, wonderful customer service, and a great atmosphere for young professionals and families alike.
Unique appetizers offerings include Maple Bacon, that has been brew battered and deep fried with a maple glaze that is extra crunchy. I love eggplant (for those of you who don’t — haters gon’ hate — but seriously, you should open your world to eggplant). The Eggplant Wedges are crisp, light and airy with a salted honey aioli dipping sauce.
With over 13 gourmet burger choices, it may take you a while to choose. Puruse the menu carefully. Our favorite was the Notorious P.I.G (because how awesome is that name, first of all) with braised pork and a Boar’s Nest BBQ Sauce. Beast Mode: with Ground buffalo, blue cheese, bacon jalapeno relish, and tipsy sauce. I wasn’t actually super impressed with their Signature Tipsy Burger, it kind of fell flat for me as it was under seasoned and just a bit boring. With more salt and a proper egg, I could see The Rockstar being quite delicious with deep fried bacon, Beecher’s flagship white cheddar, caramelized onions, and tipsy sauce. All the “artisan” buns are from Macrina Bakery, but we weren’t fans. The untoasted buns were dense and chewy — reminiscent of a bagel and almost ruined the entire burger experience. Good thing everything on inside was so tasty and saved the day.

Alternatives to a beef patty: ahi tuna, ground lamb, ground buffalo, chicken breast, and vegetarian black bean + portobello mushroom patties.
The perfect accomplishment to your burger? A milkshake, obviously. Salted Caramel and Caffe Mochshake are highly recommended. Add some Maker’s Mark Whisky or some Rain City Drip Liqueur to really tip it over the edge. Next time, I will try the Lemon Meringue with housemade lemon curd and fresh whipped cream and Bananas Foster topped with housemade caramel.
