A new social house in Bellevue.
Scotty Browns opened in Bellevue at the beginning of February this year at the Elements building in Bellevue downtown. The menu is comfort food inspired with North American and West Coast influences. They offer lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The patio has comfortable seating and is a good distance from street traffic (a plus, since most Bellevue patios are right on the sidewalk) and the atmosphere is relaxed, yet sleek and great for happy hour with coworkers or a nice dinner with friends.
The Tahitian Tuna Salad is pleasantly very satisfying for a salad with a good portion of lemongrass crusted albacore tuna, wasabi mayo, and a cilantro ginger vinaigrette over greens. Pass on the Classic Hot Wings. The wings were tiny, over-fried, and dry. The Street Tacos with halibut were underwhelming. The fish was cooked correctly, but too small of a portion and dwarfed by the cold, store-bought tortilla. The toppings were uninteresting and in total, a very forgettable dish.

They offer eight “Two Handed Burgers” including beef, seared tuna, halibut, and a vegetarian option. The Hickory Burger with smoked bacon, bbq sauce, and cheddar cheese was disappointing. The bun was dry and heavy, the patty was overcooked, and the sauce was less-bbq-more-thousand-island? However, the yam fries (that you can substitute for the regular hand-cut fries) were awesome! Just the right cut and crispiness with a tasty aioli.
The #28 Dragon Bowl with chicken, coconut rice, vegetables and a spicy yogurt sauce was also surprisingly good. The coconut rice was fragrant and flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the slightly tangy red cabbage on top balanced out the dish. I would definitely recommend this dish.
We ended with the Key Lime Pie which was a nice balance of sweet and tart and the coconut crust was creative and tasty. Overall, their food needs a little tweaking, but the service was outstanding, the atmosphere is perfect and very reflective of the area, and the drinks are delicious.
