Join the Beygency On the Run at Safeco Field
Who: If you’re not already part of the Beyhive, you will be buzzing after America’s favored powerhouse couple takes over Safeco Field this week. Millennials grew up alongside Beyonce Knowles in her Destiny’s Child saga, and worshiped Jay-Z because it really was a Hard Knock Life for us. We adored Jay Z when he erupted the Tacoma Dome with Kanye in 2011, and fans from around the Northwest are expected to flood Seattle to see Queen Bey and Mr. Carter perform on the much anticipated On the Run Tour. Seattle is on the last leg of the 16 city tour through the US, so we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from this Bonnie and Clyde duo.
This is not your typical co-headling tour, with each artist performing their set of solo acts, followed by a big finale collaboration. These two have assembled the ultimate choreographed and cinematic experience and share the stage quite often, switching the mike back and forth every few songs. Beyonce is expected to provide commentary and mouth along to Jay Z’s Dirt off Your Shoulder and Big Pimpin, and Jay-Z will gaze adoringly at Beyonce’s Run The World choreography. You can bet he will match or nearly number her in costume changes too. When Jay and Bey began dating nearly 12 years ago, it seemed like a match made in hip hop heaven, and however hard they’ve worked to keep their lips sealed on their personal life over the years, the media will always feel the need to scrutinize, and shine a light on their marriage. Beyonce’s instagram account of the tour however captures a happy family behind the scenes, so who are we to cry divorce wolf? Each nightly ticket gross sales on the tour are estimated at $5.2 million – so if you’re not already planning to skip work early to snag a good parking spot, get your spreadsheets and presentations in order and prepare to get drunk in love this Wednesday.
