Are you so done with boring blocks of hotel rooms featuring four walls and a ceiling, stiff furniture and a characterless nearby lobby serving up mediocre coffee? Great news: Lodging in the Pacific Northwest has never been more varied—or more exciting. There’s awesome camping in our region, sure, but there’s also the newest craze of glamping. While Seattleites live out childhood fantasies 30 minutes from the city at TreeHouse Point, San Juan’s Lakedale Resort brings glamping to a tranquil island setting.

Farther south, The Vintages Trailer Resort proves a fabulous base for exploring Oregon’s Willamette Valley, known for its bounty of Pinot noir-producing wineries (more than 20 can be found within five miles of the property). The family-friendly Vintages include 18 restored and new construction trailers; the vintage trailers, which date from the 1940s through the 70s, have been completely renovated and modernized. The friendly, well-kept resort also offers a pool and hot tub, outdoor lawn games, complimentary cruiser bikes and a nearby dog park for guests’ four-legged friends.

The owners, SIMA Management, say, “We love hosting guests at our property, and each receives a truly unique experience, complete with full—and functional—kitchens, propane grills, gourmet pour-over Caravan Coffee, luxurious terry cloth robes, comfortable mattresses and fine hotel-quality linens …Visitors join us from across the country, with a great number from up-and-down the I-5 corridor. Because our concept is unique, many are excited to see how accommodating and comfortable the trailers are throughout their stay.”

Happy trails!
