Planning ahead for summer fun—locally + globally.

Our favorite PNW season is nearly upon us, so we’re doing all we can get to get properly prepared. This weekend we’re giving you three things to consider—some opportunities happen just on the other side of Lake Washington, others are popping up across a much larger pond.

  1. Buy tickets to enjoy a show (or several!) from Chateau Ste. Michelle’s summer concert series before they all sell out! Since 1984, this popular Woodinville tradition has showcased some of the best artists around (in many genres), ranging from James Taylor and Stevie Wonder to Sarah McLachlan and John Legend. This year’s lineup includes superstars like Michael Franti (June 23-24), Bela Fleck & the Flecktones (July 13), John Fogerty (July 19), Ben Harper (August 24) and Lake Street Dive (September 13), among other talents. On the winery’s beautiful property, patrons enjoy wine-paired picnics and a festive, bustling vibe. Check out the FAQ to make your visit that much smoother and more fun.

  • 2. Book a trip next month to Vancouver Island, where the BC Seafood Festival—the largest seafood festival in Western Canada—returns to the Comox Valley from June 8 through 17. This year the event steps it up by extending the Signature Weekend (June 15 through 17), featuring new happenings and celebrations like celebrity chef demos (with 40-plus local and international talents), delicious seafood tastings, interactive and educational displays, plus contests including the Fanny Bay Oyster Shucking Competition and the OceanWise™ Chowder Challenge. Other draws range from the fest’s stunning waterside site and its participants’ genuine hospitality to live music and an alfresco seafood brunch on Sunday the 17th.

  • 3. Think globally, as you take advantage of a brand-new Aer Lingus route that’s launching between the Emerald City and the Emerald Isle on May 18, with four direct flights a week. Check out these hot summer deals to one of our favorite countries (Ireland!), where you’ll find the most welcoming locals and endearing spaces in which to eat, drink and be merry. Sláinte!

*Also, if you’re flying anywhere this weekend, check out a new Sea-Tac addition: award-winning Chef Kathy Casey’s restaurant concept Rel’Lish™ Burger Lounge, located on Concourse B. Travelers enjoy a variety of unique burgers, fresh salads and shareable appetizers, as well as handcrafted cocktails with a local twist. (The full-service restaurant also features breakfast offerings, a burger-to-go window and other, healthy grab-and-go options from sister brand Dish D’Lish.)
