Three weekends left to enjoy river floating in Leavenworth.

I’m sure I’ll look back on this in February and want to kick myself, but I am over the relentless summer heat and blue skies. The nonstop sun has me seeking shade and avoiding going out. Feeling like a summer scrooge, I knew I needed to find an outdoor activity that involved access to water, which is why I jumped on the opportunity to join Sound Excursions for one of their Leavenworth river tubing getaways.

We hopped on a luxury coach bus in South Lake Union at 9:00 am (they also have a pick up location in Bellevue, near Eastgate). After checking in and grabbing complimentary snacks and water for the bus ride, we settled in for what felt like a long ride ahead. However, thanks to the air conditioning, perfect playlist, and onboard entertainment (trivia and movies), we were there before we knew it.

The bus brought us right to where we would be getting on the river, and we were able to give Sam Minkoff, Co-Founder & President of Sound Excursions, all of the items we wanted to meet us at the end of our river ride.

We started our float down the river on deluxe tubes complete with mesh bottoms, headrests and cup holders. As if that wasn’t nice enough, we stayed comfortable with Sound Excursions sunglasses and a water resistant phone case.

The float took us a little over an hour and a half; the water was moving pretty good that day and we also stopped at a couple of beaches along the way. Once off the river, we were led to a foot washing station where our dry bags were waiting for us. After changing, we enjoyed a delicious local bratwurst (included in your ticket) and a local brew.

With about two hours until the bus departed for Seattle, we wandered around Leavenworth and checked out some of the local shops and breweries. It was nice to have the extra time to explore, and I felt like I got to see most of the city before we had to leave.

Sam and his team at Sound Excursions have really thought of everything. We felt completely taken care of the whole trip. I would recommend the Leavenworth river tubing getaway to anyone looking for a relaxing escape where all you have to do is show up and let the Sound Excursion team take care of the rest.
