Jack’s BBQ’s First Annual Low and Slow Festival August 10

Last week my boss rushed into my office to tell me that she had found “the best place for BBQ in Seattle.” Being a bit of a skeptic when it comes to BBQ joints in Seattle, I gave her that side-eyed “…really?” look. However, after listening to her recount the mouth watering meal she had enjoyed at Jack’s BBQ, a Central Texas BBQ joint in SODO, I knew I had to try it out.

This is why I was so excited to see that Jack’s BBQ is hosting their First Annual Low and Slow Festival on August 10th. “Low and Slow” refers to a BBQ style that was started in butcher shops in Central Texas in the late 1800s. The meat is simply seasoned with salt and pepper and smoked low and slow over hardwoods. Allegedly you don’t even need barbeque sauce the meat is so flavorful when it’s done!

To celebrate their 5th year in business, Jack (of Jack’s BBQ) will be kicking the low and slow party off at Noon at his SoDo location. The lot outside of Jack’s BBQ will be turned into an outdoor concert venue with an added Texas flair. Guests can expect activities such as horseshoes, chicken shit bingo (excited to find out what that means), frozen margaritas from Tromba tequila and plenty of Shiner Bock beer.

It wouldn’t be a Jack’s BBQ party without some low and slow meat to celebrate. To commemorate this special day, Jack is cooking up a whole steer! In addition to BBQ beef, guests can also enjoy other fare from Jack’s standard menu including smoked brisket, ribs, sausage and chicken.
