Toasting to 2021 with these special wines

Cheers to all of us for making it through the end of an incredibly challenging year.

Albeit unusual, the celebrations are still magical this time around too, and here’s toasting to hope, happiness, and a rejuvenating 2021. Whether you want to send a bottle of bubbly to thank an essential worker, do a social distanced celebration over zoom, or toast with your family at midnight, here are some delicious wines to sip your way into the new year with. Salut!

Codorniu Clasico Rose Brut ($11.99)

Codorniu Clasico Rose Brut is just the perfect bottle to pop open this holiday season. This deep pink-hued wine bubbly has notes of ripe strawberries, jammy raspberries and baking spice. It makes a smashing pair with baked salmon, garlic shrimp and risotto. Serve lightly chilled.

Los Dos Cava Brut NV ($12)

Popping a bottle of bubbly is a time-honored new year’s tradition, and one that we take very seriously! This sparkling wine is great to begin the night with. It is lively and expressive with notes of ripe pear, freshly cut melon and marzipan. Enjoy by itself or with appetizers.

Marqués de Cáceres Cava NV ($15)

Another great wine for year-end festivities. This pale amber wine has lively citrus flavors, with notes of brioche and toasty hazelnut. Crisp and clean, this is a lovely wine to pair with sweet-salty snacks like caramel popcorn or coconut shrimp.

Paco & Lola Celebration Albarino 2019 ($25)

This is a delicious wine that both full-bodied and richly textured. It also boasts tropical fruit flavors, herbaceous accents, bracing acidity and a long finish. All this means it can stand its own next to glazed ribs, Yorkshire pudding, roast duck, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes… basically any yummy, buttery holiday dishes!

Enate Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 ($22)

Festive dinners and red wine go hand in hand, and this garnet colored gem is perfect for winter nights. It begins with red berries, and goes on to reveal a spicy palate, and a lingering finish. It pairs well with fatty meats and yummy cheesy pasta dishes, with firm tannins to cut through all that scrumptious fat.
