Meet The New Pioneer Square D&E

The delicious Pioneer Square D&E is back and better than ever! This cozy neighborhood bistro is now open for dine in (with proof of COVID-19 vaccination), patio seating, and takeout.

Founded in 2018 by husband and wife Jonathan Fleming and Libby Aker, D&E quickly became a popular neighborhood staple. Jonathan, a veteran of the Seattle food industry, as well as the United States army, finds inspiration in the Pacific Northwest farmers markets as well as the flavors discovered through his military travels. He and Libby met while working in top restaurants around Seattle, ultimately dreaming up what became D&E.

D&E had to scale back its menu throughout the past 16 months due to COVID restrictions, but they just recently reopened with an exciting new menu and culinary team. The new menu features creative, yet comforting, made-from-scratch fare.

New Chef Anthony Tran guides the new menu in collaboration with owner Jonathan Fleming. D&E is known and celebrated for its mouthwatering fried chicken. Customers will still enjoy these staples, alongside new seasonal items like the Braised Short Rib with Potato Puree (my favorite dish at D&E) and the Summer Scallops with picked cherry tomatoes, zucchini vinaigrette and pea vines. Don’t miss the Chicken & Waffles (bacon-stuffed waffle!) or the Famous Fried Chicken Party Box for game days paired with specialties like the house chili sauce and ginger beer.

D&E offers creative cocktails, along with a curated beer and wine list. It is an ideal spot for happy hour, date night, pre-game libations, and more.

The restaurant is located at 314 2nd Avenue South in Seattle. It is currently open Tuesday – Friday from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm and weekends, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm for brunch, lunch, dinner and everything in between. Happy Hour runs from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm with discounted fried chicken and small plates like the Crab & Shrimp Dip, D&E “Dirty Fries” (so good!) and Cold Bavette Salad.  Breakfast is served on weekends until 3:00 pm, featuring dishes like Brisket Benedict and Fried Chicken & Eggs. D&E offers sustenance for weekend warriors and urban tailgaters alike.
