Have you ever wondered what it’s like to eat in the dark? It’s your chance to find out, with Dining in the Dark happening in Seattle now! Psychologists have been advocating dining in the dark as the ultimate taste experience for many years. Studies show that 80% of people “eat with their eyes.” With that sense eliminated, your other senses—namely taste and smell—take over and it elevates the meal to a whole new level.
Dining in the Dark is taking place at Remedium Island Grill in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle. Remedium features Hawaiian, Filipino and Guamanian cuisine. The bold, pacific island flavors are present in all of their dishes and will surprise and delight your senses during this immersive tasting experience.
The dinner is 90 minutes, and consists of three courses: a starter, a main, and a dessert. You are blindfolded for the entirety of the dinner, but will be able to guess what you just ate between each course. There are three options for tasting: vegan, seafood, or meat. I can personally vouch for the Seafood menu—it was absolutely delicious!
You can also choose from several cocktail pairings if you so wish—I did this when I went and it was so much fun! The cocktails pair well with the food, and it was really interesting to taste them without being able to look at them.

After donning my blindfold in the darkened, candlelit room, I soon realized that focusing on taste and smell alone can be a truly enlightening experience. This is a dinner that I won’t soon forget.
